Looks Right is Right The Wake project was an exploration in ingenuity, intuition and practicality. As contrast
to the modern mode of design and construction, I approached the building of Wake as I had read the ancient Chinese
boat builders approachd their work. Design was determined by tradition Materials were those at hand Craftsmanship was
to the level that would do the job Wake is based on
drawings of a T'ang-chiang-hua-tzu, a sampan from the Shanghai area from the late nineteenth century. The hull is plywood,
deck and frames salvaged pallet boards and other materials.
